About
It all started when...
Over the past 15 years of active duty, we lost many of our dearest friends of USAFA like 1 Lt Rosyln (Roz) Schulte (USAFA ’06), Major Adrianna Vorderbruggen (USAFA ‘02), and Capt Matthew Roland (USAFA ‘10), and Major Phylis Pelky. Yet the heartache is not contained to USAFA. There are over 2.5 million veterans of Operations Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom alone, which means there are millions more friends and family affected by constant deployments and time away from family. We are a group of veterans who started this project to keep alive the memory of our fallen USAFA friends, but we extend that grace to all of our military supporters.
There is a poignant part of Merrit Malloy’s poem that says, “When all that’s left of me is love, give me away.” (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/adria-firestone/annette-lesiege_b_1979606.html)
We want to provide camps in honor of the friends and family we have lost by giving their love away through leadership camps.
Our camps strive to teach principles inherent to not only military leaders, but many of our nation’s finest: problem-solving, communication, coping, empathy, teamwork, and inclusion. We bring together experts in the local area to teach at one of our three LEAD (Learn, Explore, Apply, Do!) camps: Aviation, Equine, and Sports.
